AIN’T NO STOPPING US.

We’re not giving anything up for Lent…no way.

As soon as the last race was over – and won at Brands Hatch – our minds were focused on the next round – Donington Park.

One for the sponsors…we’ll be adding Nova Racing Transmission stickers for the next round.

Ritchie managed to get hold of some Kawasaki race-kit valve springs, which is a real bonus. They must have been the only ones left for sale in Europe…possibly the world even.

He tried a guy in America, but he wouldn’t sell them. Luckily he found out that the guy in Germany we bought the race-kit cams from, had a set, with retainers and everything.

Rare Race Kit Springs purchased from a Kwacka race enthusiast in Europe.

So, it seems even with all this Brexit nonsense, we’re still good friends with Europe after all. We took advantage of the offer and eagerly whipped out the engine; took off the head and swapped them for the standard ones we’ve been running.

Working out in the garage – keeping an engine fit.

Now Ritchie can rev the motor a bit higher – he could do with a bit more top end on the long straights at Donington – without any fear of any floating valves hitting the pistons.

We don’t want any of that again.

Artistry in steel - lovely new cogs from Nova.

We’ve also purchased a new gearbox from Mick at Nova Racing Transmissions. He came to watch Ritchie at Brands Hatch after we made enquiries about the possibility of replacing the standard gears, which broke and finished us off at Cadwell; they’re super-finished made especially for the ZX7R.

Out with the old – in with the new. Getting geared up for Donington Park.

Ritchie decided to splash out and get a set. They looked so nice when they turned up; it was a shame to hide them in the engine!

We’ll be patching up the Kwacka for another appearance at Round-2, it suffered a bit going down twice in practice and warm-up during Round 1, but it’s a real fighter, and with Ritchie on board, it’s a combination that never gives up…on anything.

Here’s to the next meeting on the 25th and 26th March – not long now.
